More Students Are Attending Schools Online With New Guidelines For Financial Aid!
Students might find online college programs and online degree pursuits more affordable with help, in a way, from healthcare reform. The recently approved healthcare reform package included what CBS News called “some of the most sweeping changes in history - helping students pay for college”.
The federal government is considered the largest source of financial aid, offering grants, loans and work study program offerings so that students with financial needs can more easily afford tuition. A rising number of students are reportedly enrolling in college, and online college programs particularly have become popular. Rising numbers of students are also looking for tuition assistance as a result of the economy, according to reports. News agencies report that through the education bill, the government plans to stop subsidies and backing for banks and other private lenders issuing student loans and make more tuition help available.
The Obama student loan overhaul, as it’s been termed, is anticipated to save about $61 billion over the next decade and boost graduation rates, according to reports. Much of the money is to be directed to federal financial aid offerings, some of which might involve lender service assistance, reports show. Community colleges are expected to benefit. So are students who qualify for Pell grants and the government’s Stafford and Perkins Loans that help pay for college tuition.
The measure approved is actually known as the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010. Healthcare reform and the education bill overlap at the higher education level in that students can remain covered by their parents’ insurance to age 26, rather than 21, according to reports.
$36 billion, or more than half of the $61 billion in savings, is to expand Pell grants. Pell grant allowances, increased each year to allow for inflation, cover about 35 percent of the average student tuition, as compared to 77 percent a few decades ago. Without the Obama student loan overhaul, they would have covered less. Qualifying Pell grant applicants for the 2010-2011 academic year can each receive as much as $5,500 in tuition assistance and by 2019-2020 are to receive up to $5,900 apiece, The New York Times reported. Pell grant recipients would have otherwise received a maximum $2,150 each next year, news agencies report. Students qualifying for government financial aid might use that assistance for online college classes associated with recognized degree programs. Some online degree programs come in accelerated formats that can help students with demanding schedules save time in attaining their goals.
Pell grants don’t have to be repaid. But even students who receive what’s known as direct loans from the government are to gain some repayment leeway as a result of the Obama student loan overhaul. College and university financial aid offices award the government’s Stafford and Perkins loans to qualifying students who typically must put 15 percent of their income to loan payments, according to The New York Times. Beginning in July 2014, The Times reported, students only have to dedicate 10 percent of their income to loan payments. In instances where students make their loan payments on time, the loans can be forgiven after 20 years, The Times noted. Students qualifying for government tuition assistance might invest the money in online college pursuits when their plans are part of recognized degree programs. Some online degree programs are offered in accelerated formats that can help students with demanding schedules save time reaching their goals.
The Obama student loan overhaul reportedly also sets aside $2 billion for job training programs at community colleges. It’s the first time the federal government provided direct aid to the community colleges, a college president told The Chronicle of Higher Education. President Obama himself has demonstrated support for online college offerings. During a talk in Detroit last year about investing in community colleges, he proposed adding $500 million in new online college classes as part of an overall investment intended by the year 2020 to add some 5 million new graduates, The Washington Post reported.
The number of online classes from which students can choose is growing quickly, and these online education include a wide variety of subject areas. Obama’s proposal to increase the number of graduates is part of what’s been termed an “American Graduation Initiative”. According to CBS News, the President wants the United States to lead the world in college graduate rankings, rising from its current spot at 14 and taking over a top position currently held by South Korea. No commentsSchool Feasbility Study: First Step to Starting a School
Education entrepreneurs are not an exemption when it comes to creating school feasibility studies before start up a school. In fact, a feasibility study helps ensure the school’s success. In fact, highly sophisticated business plans usually include in-depth feasibility studies. Yet between 50% and 80% of businesses fail within the first few years. The global landscape is littered with failed schools.
Conducting a feasibility study will save you from any slip-up. And if done correctly, you will also be able to create a successful school environment and operations while at it.
A school market study is essential to a school’s success. It’s not enough to know that there is a demand for education in the area. You should also consider other variables that parents have in mind as far as determining which school to enroll their kids to, is concerned. You have to remember that marketing a school is not like marketing a brand of shampoo. Parents consider their child’s education as a very important factor. Thus, expect parents to be really critical. They will look at different variables such as the kind of education, facilities, location, extracurricular activities, and so on. Education entrepreneurs need an in-depth understanding of the marketplace and the complex considerations of prospective parents before launching a school. A good feasibility provides this information and informs the school formation and startup process.
Apart from the sentiments of parents, startup and operating requirements should also be indicated clearly in the feasibility study. Facilities acquisition, design and development, management structure, faculty and staff recruitment, supervision and compensation, marketing and admission, student management systems and more require careful consideration. There should be a comprehensive, impartial analysis of project requirements. Extreme care is needed to make sure that there is no room for failure in the future.
The financial analysis should include startup and annual operating budgets for five years. Ideally, the projections would include best, medium and worse case scenarios. The projections should include theories and hypotheses so that accurate basis for the projections can be formed. But most importantly, remember to consider industry benchmarks as you develop these projections. Budgets with projections far outside industry ranges for major expenses and growth projections are serious red flags. A break-even analysis is also critical. A comprehensive, professional financial analysis will help startup schools avoid pitfalls and provide critical information for what is and what is not feasible.
Startup schools fail because of: underestimating the competition, poor execution, undercapitalization, and lack of competitive advantages. However, with an excellent feasibility study, you can avoid those and turn your fate the other way around.

Graduate schools are populated by people who have a myriad of different reasons for wanting to go on another few years for a higher degree after leaving their four year college. Others are there due to their crazy schedules that may have prevented them attending before. Some of the reasons people choose to attend graduate school are because they would like to expand their knowledge base in a particular subject or because that can lead to advancement in their field. Others would like to receive the degree simply because a master’s degree is a guarantee of a higher paying salary.
Students who already have an undergraduate degree know that to advance their education, a master is the next step. The classes for this advanced accreditation are typically more advanced than undergraduate classes and require far more effort than what they‘ve already done. These classes are typically research based, but can have a basis in course work as well. While some professors who teach these courses prefer there to be a mixture between research based classes and course work based classes; it truly can vary.
Masters degrees usually require a student to complete up to 120 credit hours of graduate level class work, although it can be as low as 60 hours. In order to facilitate these classes for the many different students who have difficult scheduling issues thanks to their professional and personal lives, colleges offer many options. There is the option to sit in front of a computer in your home distance learning, to attend at night, or a combination of nights and weekend-of even just on the weekend.
The three biggest degree programs insofar as to create more opportunity and as far as having more demand are the Master of Business Administration, the Master of Education and the Master of Public Administration degrees. These degrees are highly respected in their field and open doors to a wealth of opportunity for advancement in the corporate workplace.
The Master of Business Administration was developed in the 19th century during the age known as the Industrial Revolution as a way to add scientific principles to business. Many students who receive MBAs can then take those MBAs to medical school or law school as the skill set required for success in the MBA program is similar to that required in medical school and law school. Students will be proficient in accounting, operations management, human resources and marketing.
More states are requiring teachers to acquire a Master of Education degree in order to renew their professional certificates. This is a degree that can help teachers advance up the educational administrative ladder, as well as lead to national board certification. Teachers will find their skills are increased in the areas of multicultural education, curriculum development and educational leadership.
The Master of Public Administration is an excellent degree for someone who does not want to run for government office but who wishes to serve in government. This degree is heavy in the social sciences and students will learn a variety of skills. Some of these skills include economics, public accounting, public policy, sociology, and urban planning.
Not many these days can afford, even with financial assistance, to simply attend school without working at a paying job. The answer is your masters degrees. There is nothing second rate about college degree- they have the same high standards as traditional universities - yet offer the student the flexibility they need to earn a paycheck as they learn. An advanced degree practically guarantees a higher income and a better chance to do what you love.

No commentsStart A Rewarding Career As A Pharmacy Technician With Your Online Diploma!
It’s a rather ironic bit of news. The graying of US is turning into one of the best things to happen to the pharmaceutical industry. The reason is as the average age of Americans increase, the more they take a number of various drugs, from calcium supplements to much stronger drugs. Due to this, the need for Pharmaceutical Technicians and Aides is expected to grow by 25% from 2008 to 2018. Many who enter this field will do via online schools.
There’s quite a bit of differences between an aide and a technician. The aide is the friendly person who usually greets you at the pharmaceutical counter, takes your written prescription, hands it back filled and rings the sale up. If you have a question, he or she will usually call a technician or the pharmacist to answer. They only need a high school degree and their responsibilities are pretty much that of any retail clerk. They usually make the same wage as a retail clerk, too (from $7.00 to $10.00 an hour).
A technician is a more formal occupation. It’s better compensated, too. Like aides, they primarily work retail. They can also be seen in major institutions like hospitals and clinics. The main responsibility is to verify the prescriptions; measure, fulfill the order; then hand it back to the aide, if not ring it up themselves.
Technicians also keep profiles of their customers, check on insurance refunds, and often answer questions for the pharmacist. In major health care institutions they have added tasks such as preparing and delivering whatever special formulas a nurse or doctor needs.
As intimated, becoming a technician involves certification. In turn, one can correctly surmise this means going to school and learning the job. There are six month programs, but to get the better paying jobs, one needs a two-year program, plus a prep course or two for certification. A lot of this is determined by local and state regulations. There are two main certification bodies, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians. One should check with their employer to see what they need.
You see, many aides will use their job as a first step towards becoming a technician’s degree. Some companies and schools will actually consider the aide’s experience as a sort of internship, which can be converted to credit hours.
Like an aide, a technician is usually paid hourly, with the big difference being the hourly rate. Technicians average $15.00 an hour, with an upper limit of $20 an hour. Technicians have a greater chance at full benefits, too.
What’s important is more and more baby boomers are going to need more and more drugs as they go into their “golden years”. Because of this, there is a growing need for people who will administer to this population. This makes the aide and technician’s job incredibly secure for some time to come.
As the programs offered by online degrees grow exponentially, more students will take advantage of the degree opportunities offered. These are the days where everything from an associate degree through colleges for medical can be attained through distance education. No commentsGetting The African American Scholarships For Yourself
A college education is not restricted to a classroom, textbook, research paper or grade point average. It provides an environment for building relationships with individuals from other backgrounds and cultures. For this reason, scholarships are offered to African Americans and other minority groups in an effort to enhance diversity on university grounds. Many companies offer aid in specific fields of study in an attempt to employ more varied ethnicities. The more tempting scholarships available for African Americans include medicine and business engineering.
Any decent paying job now requires a degree from its employees and African Americans have more options to choose from than ever before. The United Negro College Fund provides funding that enables more than 60,000 students each year to attend higher education facilities. There are 39 member colleges that provide 21st century academic programs while keeping tuition costs down. By providing 400 scholarship and intern programs to low and moderate income families, the educational gap is closing. The UNCF chooses to close the educational gap with its efforts to provide 400 intern and scholarship programs offered to moderate and low income families. Their policy and slogan is “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.”
Thousands of dollars each year are donated to African American scholarships by the Thurgood Marshall Fund. The many colleges that receive funding from them offer undergraduate, graduate and law school degrees. TMF has a 22 year history with totals over $100 million in scholarships and support. Recipients have to complete all degree requirements and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation joined with TMF in 2003 to reform education in six high schools of low income communities within four separate states. High school graduates become prepared to handle college and have learned study skills necessary to complete a degree program.
African American students graduating from high school and wanting to attend any college of choice can apply for a scholarship through the Jack and Jill Foundation. This can become a reality through scholarships offered by the Jack and Jill Foundation, as this agency promotes the preparation of students as leaders in all aspects of their future careers. The foundation wants African Americans to attain their fullest potential as individuals within the community and develop the ability to become leaders. The Jack and Jill Foundation manages five grant programs that allocate awards to neighborhood chapter service projects and non-profit agencies. Any program that produces opportunities for students to gain empowerment skills is highly supported.

No commentsOnline Master Is A Good Way To Improve Your Career!
Some people work 40, 50, or even 60 hours a week to just keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. With those kinds of hours, people who might want to go to school may never have a chance, especially if they have to work a minimum-wage job. The cost of an education may be completely out of reach for them, particularly since education costs keep rising, with no end in sight. In fact, according to the College Board, last year it cost 6.5% more to go to school than the year before. People may need financial aid to get back to school.
The good news is that help is available; most students are eligible for some type of assistance. The assistance can come in the form of grants, scholarships or low-interest government student loans. It’s estimated that almost two-thirds of all students receive some type of financial aid. In fact, more than $168 billion is made available to students and their families to help fund post-secondary educational expenses.
Many, if not all of these grants and scholarships can be applied for online. Usually, the first step in any grant or scholarship application is the completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Even if the financial aid being applied for isn’t funded by a government entity, most grants or scholarships require this form to be completed. The FAFSA helps organizations make decisions regarding financial aid by analyzing a student’s financial need. The entire FAFSA can be completed and submitted online.
For 2009 – 2010, the College Board notes that students in four-year public universities who received financial aid averaged a benefit of about $5,400. Students who attend online universities or schools are also eligible for financial aid. If you want to attend an online university or college and need financial aid, the first thing you need to do is find an accredited school that offers a degree in your area of study. Attending a non-accredited school can make getting financial aid very difficult. Don’t forget, many traditional universities now offer online degrees for students who don’t have time to attend a regular class.
Once you’re decided on your school and the type of degree you’ll be seeking, you will need to make an estimate of how much financial aid you will need. Once you have an idea of your expenses, you can work towards finding financial aid. It’s a good idea to be creative; you needn’t look only at the financial aid offered through your school’s financial aid office. There are hundreds of grants and scholarships available online. Many of them are administered by the federal and state government.
Every person who works long hours is part of a community, whether it’s the community at large, or your workplace community. Both of these places are a good place to look for financial aid. A lot of companies now offer educational benefits to their employees in the form of matching grants or scholarships. The community you live in probably has charitable organizations that offer financial aid to deserving people who want to further their education.
There are also organizations that may not be large corporations, but smaller entities that have less money to give out. Don’t pass these by just because the award is smaller. Perhaps they only give out the grant or scholarship once a year, or even semi-annually. If the organization gives out financial aid and you are eligible for it, don’t hesitate to apply.
The most important thing to remember when considering financial aid for online master is not to limit yourself. Explore all of your options and then make sure to follow through on them. While your financial aid office may have lots of opportunities available, the Internet offers you access to scholarships and grants opportunities that you may have never heard of. When you make the decision to apply for financial aid, you’ve made a decision to improve your life. With the additional help of online financial aid, completing your degree is definitely within your grasp. For more information about grants for single moms, check the internet.

No commentsReach Your Online Master Easily
Online college degrees are quickly becoming a top draw for a mix of students from all sectors of society. In fact, last year the number of students who enrolled in online programs increased to five million students. That’s a nearly 17% increase in only one year.
The incredible flexibility of online school may be the number one reason that students are flocking to continue their education online. Also, the cost of school online in many cases is much more affordable than a traditional school. Finally, employers and businesses in general are beginning to realize that a great education can be attained at an online school, which benefits both employers and employees.
One group of students that is well represented in online schools is working parents. Their busy schedules between work and being parents may only leave them time in the evening to complete their classes. Students who attend regular classes on campus may want to boost their schedules by taking an online course. There are also a large number of people who have been terminated at work because of the dour economy. They may want to increase their skill set, or add to their education to help them get a better job.
There is a definite trend in the types of degrees online students are seeking. The top draw is the Master in Business Administration, followed by nursing and psychology. Filling out the top ten is a mix of majors in a variety of fields. They include health administration, criminal justice, early childhood education, counseling, religion, accounting, and human services.
Many MBA students are already active in the business world and need the flexibility of an online program in order to continue their jobs. Getting away in the middle of the day for a class would be very difficult, if not impossible, for someone in the corporate world. Completing an MBA outside of business hours and in the comfort of your own home can be a great benefit for someone who works a hectic and demanding job already.
MBA programs at different online schools follow a similar curriculum program. These programs consist of a very large amount of reading and analysis of corporate case studies. Since online programs are generally much more flexible than regular MBA programs, online MBA candidates can schedule their reading time around their work schedules.
The inherent technology of online MBA programs adds to the quality of the courses. Students complete the discussion of their reading in online discussion boards and chat rooms. The nature of these discussions also benefits the instructors, who can more easily monitor classroom activity than in a large lecture hall. This may lead to a higher quality of instruction and learning.
Different business degrees use varying arrangements to complete the program. While some classes allow a set period of time to complete the coursework with no specific deadlines except the end of the course, other schools may use a more structured format. Some schools may even require a period of time on campus and in person, followed by a longer set of coursework that is completed online. While some exams may be taken online, another online course may require tests to be taken in person, either on campus or at a suitable location like a library, and given by proctors who will monitor the exam. If discussion boards are used, the professors may monitor them over a period of several days, while students join the discussions as their schedules allow. This type of schedule may be the most convenient for busy bachelors business degree candidates who are working while going to school, which may be why online schools are gaining in popularity so quickly.

No commentsBecome A Medical Labatory Technician By Attending Online Master!
There’s no denial that modern technology has revolutionized medicine. In fact, it’s become such a dominant aspect of health care that doctors need a team of experts around him just to make a diagnosis. A key member of that team is the Clinical Laboratory Technician. No one just jumps into this field without some education in several different programs and one way to do this is college online.
A technician is a medical assistant who now sits behind the microscope analyzing cells, blood and other bodily fluids for disease, drugs or whatever the doctor needs to make a diagnosis. They aren’t restricted to the microscope these days. They work with much more sophisticated technology than the Bunsen burners of old, including a wide array of computer equipment. Another responsibility is the technician often analyzes the sample him or herself, then reports the findings to the doctor.
Overall, lab technicians work in clean, well-lit; some could say sterile, environments. The most negative thing about being a technician is the hours. This job is highly prone to lots of overtime, whether one gets paid for it or not. In larger institutions, the labs operate non-stop, with someone always being there, even on weekends and holidays. In smaller labs the technicians work rotating shifts. It’s also not uncommon for techs to be on call just because of workload or medical crisis.
There are two primary educational paths for lab technicians. The first is getting hired into a work-study/internship program and learn on-the-job through individualized training. In this situation, one is often hired by universities and larger hospitals, with additional homework being done with an online college. This process does come with one key proviso: There are tests that can only be conducted by technicians who have at least an associate degree, so these young techies are not allowed to do them until they get that two year degree.
The other way, and one that’s becoming much more preferred with time, is for a student to complete a full four year course, majoring in either medical technology or a life science. The core of the four year degree should be made of classes in chemistry, biology, microbiology, math and statistics. It should also include courses on the clinical laboratory. Good side classes are in business and computer applications, although the bulk of these classes can be taken when one wants to get a supervisory job.
Even though there are currently well over 300,000 technicians in the workforce, the Bureau of Labor Statistics feels this will not be enough. It rates growth in the profession will be growing faster than average over the next decade. The Bureau also states half work in hospitals, with the rest in doctor’s offices and labs.
Salaries reflect this high demand. The average wage is in the low-to-mid $50,000 range. It usually comes with excellent health benefits and some sort of retirement plan as well. Management positions, as well as the organization one works for, will change the rules somewhat as far as salaries.
The most important element of the job though is an experienced technician is a highly valued member of a medical team. When graduating from online education, the new hire brings experience with the very technology that will aid their new work. From this entry position, there’s no doubt many go on to masters degree medical in pursuit of additional degrees, perhaps even one day becoming team leader themselves. If you are interested in this career path and would like to do more research about online course, you will find an abundance of information on the internet.
